She's been with numerous top media organizations around the world. She was a reporter for The Washington Post nearly a decade, covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as well playing basketball in multiple Olympics. Nichols was hired by ESPN from 2004. She worked for 9 years at the network, earning two Emmy Awards. She also was a guest on some of the most popular programs on ESPN such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. In the 42 year history of this award, it was the only time a woman had been among the 200+ nominees.
